We are pleased to invite you to a public lecture by Karla Štěpánová from the Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics (CIIRC CTU Prague), leader of the Robotic Perception Group and a member of ROBOPROX RA7. The lecture, titled “From Language to Action – Can We Teach Robots Anything Today?”, will take place on Friday, 6 February 2026 at 17:00 (CET) in Prague, with an option to join online via live stream. This event is part of the long-running popular science series organised by the Czech Skeptics’ Club (Sisyfos), bringing advanced research to a broad audience.

In her lecture, Karla will explore how modern robots move beyond rigid programming to learn directly from people. Through interaction, feedback, and shared activity, robots can start to understand human intentions, adapt to different users, and respond to changing environments. The talk will highlight practical examples from ongoing research, demonstrating how robots can collaborate with humans in everyday settings, from homes and workshops to hospitals. Attendees will gain insight into the challenges and opportunities of designing robots that are flexible, adaptive, and capable of meaningful human–robot cooperation.
The lecture is open to everyone interested in robotics, artificial intelligence, and human–robot interaction, as well as to anyone curious about how robots are gradually becoming part of everyday life. You can join the lecture in person in Prague or online via live stream.
