Supporting the Next Generation of Research Leaders: CTU Starting Grant 2026

At ROBOPROX, we strongly support initiatives that promote research excellence, international collaboration, and real independence for early-career researchers. We believe that investing in young scientific talent is essential for innovation, technological advancement, and the development of a vibrant research ecosystem. That’s why we are excited to highlight the CTU Starting Grant 2026, a program designed to attract outstanding early-career scientists with international experience to the Czech Technical University in Prague (CTU).

What is the CTU Starting Grant?

The CTU Starting Grant is a competitive funding scheme that helps early-career researchers establish independent research groups at CTU. The program provides the necessary resources, flexibility, and institutional support to build a team, pursue ambitious projects, and contribute to high-impact research.

The grant offers:

  • Funding: Up to CZK 4,000,000 per year for up to three years.
  • Relocation support: A one-time package of up to CZK 250,000 to assist with moving and start-up needs.
  • Career and family-friendly design: Flexibility for parental leave, caregiving responsibilities, and part-time arrangements.
  • Future growth: Designed as a springboard toward major international funding opportunities, such as ERC Starting or Consolidator Grants.

Applicants can be researchers currently at CTU, elsewhere in the Czech Republic, or abroad, provided they have substantial international experience and are within eight years of completing their PhD (with possible extensions for career breaks).

Why this program matters

The CTU Starting Grant supports the development of independent research leaders and strengthens the university’s position as a hub for global scientific talent. By providing the resources and support necessary for young researchers to establish their own groups, the program helps foster innovation, collaboration, and high-quality research.

Additionally, the program encourages connections with Czech researchers currently working abroad, bringing knowledge, experience, and fresh perspectives back to the local research community. This contributes to stronger ties between academia, industry, and the international scientific network.
